The Big Banana

Okay, it was really Bananas Park but to the boys it will always be known as "the big banana"

I decided it was time to get away for a day and spend some one on one time with Kiersten and Kiley. We have not done it for a long time and I always enjoy getting a chance to get in a little playing and talking with them. (Kim also had to work so that helped in deciding on the one on one time)

We got in a little shopping, eating, playing at the park, going to the bookstore (always a winner with the boys), and of course, Coldstone ice cream. The park included miniature golf, go-karts, laser tag and arcade (for us anyway) Kiersten was thrilled with his 20 minute laser tag run (since that is all he really wanted to do all day anyway)

We did bribe him to play golf with us and it turned out to be really fun (and he did enjoy driving the go-karts too) The course was great and some holes had spinners that decided your fate for playing that hole. We enjoyed putting behind our backs, putting with one hand, putting with our eyes closed, putting with the wrong end of our club (which Kiley interpreted as meaning he could do it like a pool stick) and someone had even built a little house just for Kiley (except they must have forgotten how to spell his name)

When all was said and done Kiersten was the winner with the least number of strokes! Good job Kiersten and THANK YOU for playing with us!
I was very tired due to a very late night the day before and we left to head for home quite late. Kiley was determined to help keep me awake (and in hopes he could maybe get in a little driving himself) so all the way over the mountain Kiley read my book to me. It was great!! I hope he decides to do that again sometime! (Kiersten was over the seat and ready for sleep the moment we headed for home as usual)

Today I decided I needed to get my car cleaned out (with the little extra push I needed thanks to a bowl of melted ice cream and very overdue dried on nacho cheese sauce but we will not mention who added BOTH of them to my car) so I also vacuumed out the truck. Here I was thinking it was Easter and in the truck I found a Christmas present to Kael from Grandma and Grandpa. (Kim was hiding presents from my baby~ haha) Well, it is better that he gets the present now than never right? It was very funny and I am glad I decided to clean out the vehicles.

To say the least I have really enjoyed my two days off from work. They were very well spent and I enjoyed all the time I was able to spend with my boys! I hope it also gave the boys something fun to say they did over spring break.

IT IS OFFICIAL (for one anyway)

I bet it is not long for the other to follow suit....... Kiley is a licensed permit driver! He just left with his dad for his first drive. I will have to let you know how it went and how he did.

Kiersten has been very good with Kael lately and Kael is obsessed with his hair. He is always playing in Kiersten's hair for some reason. It is hard to get a pic with his hand down!

April Fools!

Happy April Fools Day!

Toni tried to get a reaction out of Kim today by having Kael in a dress when it was time to pick him up after work. I do not think Kael minded a bit because he was complete smiles as usual. Do you think purple is his color? Since he likes so sleep on his stomach so much it even looks like he has make-up on with his rosey little cheeks~ HAHA

I also "heard" there was a little foolery going on at dads today. He has worked so hard on his house is it really for sale by owner? What about his new truck? It is for sale too! I thought he might decide to keep it with the white and black additions.......

Kiersten decided since it is a new month he would try out a new look. He must not have liked it much as he has decided to be himself again already.

And not to be left out Kiley thought he would change his appearance too! He decided it would be a fun Aprils Fools joke to run into a barbed wire fence. Oh yes, RUNNING full speed in the dark and hit it. Cut his thumb and he will have a NICE scar on his stomach/chest. He is very lucky that it was not worse. (To his defense he did not know it was there)

I have been a slacker!

It is no surprise but I have been slacking on sharing pictures and events!

Kim finally got Kiersten and Kiley to hold still long enough to get a really good picture of them in their soccer uniforms. (if you have ever wondered before why we are able to get so many pictures of Kael but never post any of the other 2, now you know why) They are both go go go and never stop from morning til night.
Less than 6 months to their 'SWEET 16' and neither has a learner's permit yet. It does make it hard when they are so busy and the office is only open 2 days a week in Vernal. I can't believe they are almost 16! BLOWS MY MIND! On another sad note, by the time Kiersten and Kiley turn 16 Kael will be 1. HMM, where does the time go?
Mom and Chuck were nice to bring out some buckets that Kim wanted so we were able to play some games at Toni's house for a while. Too bad Toni was designated photographer because she didn't get to be included in our wonderful pic. Thanks Toni for the game day at your house! (and yes, I ate all the remaining peanut butter cookies YUM)Toni is still 'our sitter' and takes care of Kael while we are at work. He loves the cereal and the fruit and probably eats more of it than he should but if it makes him happy I don't feel I should restrict him while he is growing so fast. (growing fast is what he does BEST) If I didn't know better I would say he looks like he is tapping the tray saying "come on Toni, BRING ON THE FOOD!"

just the news

Kiersten kept teasing us all telling everyone that he was not going to try out for the soccer team. Well the morning of try outs he changed his mind. YEAH!!
Both Kiersten and Kiley made the freshman soccer team. They start playing next week. I hope the both have a great season and enjoy every minute of it.
Soccer pics will hopefully be coming to a blog near you soon.

I actually got off work at a decent time tonight so I took Kael for a walk. He loved it (as he did before it got so cold) He was sad when I started undoing his straps to come in. With the time change so close hopefully we can get in a walk most evenings after work. (And I can only hope that my dog tiring extra long days at work are behind me)

Kael and his pal

Kael hanging out with his best pal. He has decided that he does not like to sleep so he spends many hours awake. I didn't know it was possible for a little feller to stay awake so long~

Mr. VJH

For those of you not from Vernal, VJH stands for Vernal Junior High. (It sort of surprised me when someone asked what that was)

Kiley decided to compete in the Mr. VJH competition and really enjoyed doing it. His escort was Taylor Henline and he liked the chance to get to know her better too. (He had been too shy to actually talk to her before asking her to escort him but has wanted to talk to her all year)

He created shirts for himself and his escort and they decided to have their names and their basketball jersey numbers on the back of them. (She plays too) Go 5 and 10!!!
He was escorted in and then they had to do a dance that they created.
He had to recite a nursery rhyme in his PJ's (he chose Little Miss Muffet) while holding his favorite stuffed animal.

His talent was juggling set to "Out of Control" and he did very well. He then invited a teacher (judge) up to participate and both teachers added humor to the routine for him.

They had to do 2 assemblies as the auditorium is not big enough for all of the students. Both assemblies had different teacher judges so the outcomes were a little different.

At the end of his talent in the second assembly he presented Taylor with a dozen roses (that he paid for himself) and thanked her for being his escort. (What a gentleman!) As the judges tallied their votes the contestants did a dance choreographed to "Dancing Queen" and they all wore a tiara. It was priceless and had great humor! (Kiley added his back hand springs too)

Kiley won 1st runner up on the second assembly. No more early morning practices and now all is said and done but he seemed to have had a great time! Good job Kiley for being willing to put yourself out there and make memories you will never get a chance to do again!
